Blood Orange Margarita
I have a thing with citrus. And tequila. When you mix them together you honestly can't go wrong. I've had A LOT of requests for this pretty cocktail so here is the recipe for Blood Orange Margaritas. I generally eyeball recipes like this so take this as a blueprint and adjust to your taste. Trader Joe's has plenty of bags of blood oranges this time of year so pick up a couple next time you swing through. I've had oranges that are super juicy and some that aren't at all so if you need to add more or less, feel free to do so. Also, a note about Tajin: it's excellent for rimming a glass or just sprinkling on top of your drink to make it look fancy. And don't worry, you'll use it for other things as well...it's GREAT on roasted chicken drumsticks!
Blood Orange Margarita
Serves 2
Ingredients
2-4 blood oranges, juiced
1 lime, juiced
3 oz high quality tequila (I'm a fan of Casamigos or Espolon)
Splash of Ripe tequila mix (or agave) if it tastes a little tart
Tajin seasoning, optional for rim
seltzer, optional
Instructions
Add orange juice, lime juice, tequila and Ripe to a shaker with ice. Shake well. Add ice to two cocktail glasses (I LOVE these silicone cube trays that make the giant ice cubes...they take longer to melt and your drink gets less watered down!). Divide your cocktail between the two glasses. Taste. You may need to add more of one ingredient or another so you do you. I'm also a fan of adding seltzer and a sprinkling of Tajin. Cheers!
Enjoy!
